Wizards Guard Nick Young: “Gilbert got that Kobe treatment”
Apparently, Nick Young has become Agent-ZERO’s spokesperson. Can Kobe Bryant be the savior of all broken-down or washed-up athletes with his German Mamba Magic? Bryant has already confirmed previous reports that he’s recommended the surgery to New York Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez. Yanks fans across the world will be casting aside their tear-soaked Knicks jerseys to ‘don’ a Bryant-24 rag if A-Rod can return to 2007 form as a result of the surgery.
Young went on to add that Gilbert’s “knees feel great” and “lost a lot of weight”…no word on whether Gilbert likes his crust cut off his toast, but I’m sure Mr. Young will have us abreast of all the most pertinent Arenas facts, shortly. All kidding aside, this may have to something to do with why the Los Angeles Lakers have expressed interest in Arenas (all of the sudden), after the guard has been on the market for well over a month. Do bionic knees make him anymore worthy of the risk that comes along with him? NBA fans, would you want Arenas on your roster if 100% healthy? Personally, I think Arenas has some good years of basketball left, and hope to see him get another shot. Arenas has certainly done plenty to warrant being ‘excommunicated’ from the spotlight, but if he could join a team and act like he has some sense, it would be a shame to see all that talent go to waste. In no way am I an Arenas apologist, as I have been his most outspoken critic, but having just turned 30 years old, I would venture to say his ‘maturity’ level of the past would likely rival that of most young men in their early-20′s. Especially, when you consider the man had a $60-million contract at the age of 21. Again, not making excuses for a man that has made over $130 million simply from his NBA contracts (not including the $40m contract from Adidas), as he has undoubtedly made this mess for himself. I’m just asking all of those folks condemning him as totally washed up to place aside the ‘emotion’ of the infamous “gun incident” when judging whether Arenas could still help an NBA roster.

*Update* More from Nick Young on Gilbert…you can’t tell me dude doesn’t sound like Gilbert’s agent?
“Yea, yea… you could say it’s the Kobe System, but he said it feels great, his knees feel great, and he’s been working out. When I seen him last time, he looked like he was in shape. He lost a lot of weight.’ When did you last see him? ‘When we went to Orlando the last time we played [the Wizards played the Magic on Orlando on January 4], so he looked like he was in good shape.’ The Los Angeles Lakers are reportedly interested in Arenas, have you talked to him about playing for both of you guys’ hometown team? ‘Oh yea, oh yea … most definitely. That’s a big thing for him. That’d be real big for the Lakers to add him to their team because they need a guard.” Nick Young. #GilbertSystem #GiveABrothaAChance
